Limestone is a white sedimentary rock composed primarily of calcium carbonate. There are several types of limestone: ordinary (Vrachanski), shelly and chalk. Ordinary limestone is used as a building material and for the production of lime and cement. The shell limestone is called so because the shells of various animals are still visible in it. It is very beautiful and is used for lining buildings, fountains and others. Chalk is very soft (soft limestone). Chalk is made from it.
Limestone is one of the most widely used rocks in construction. Its warm color is why it is often preferred for exterior cladding, window sills and patio caps. Easy and extremely pleasing to model, common in columns, pilasters, balustrades, window surrounds, capitals and fireplace ornaments.
It is suitable for:
- Facades
- Fireplaces
- Steps
- Thresholds
- Cornices and skirting boards
- Architectural and decorative elements for the interior and exterior.
Natural materials vary from lot to lot, and even within the same lot, differences in shade, color and grain can be seen. For this reason, samples and photos should be taken as a guide only.
